What does UPF 50+ mean?

This product is UPF 50+ certified.

UPF stands for Ultraviolet Protection Factor. It is an index measuring the ability of a fabric or material to filter out ultraviolet rays. The UPF 50+ index is the highest UV protection certification, according to European standard EN 13758-1. An UV protective garment with UPF 50+ certification blocks over 98% of UV rays, protecting your skin from possible burns and lesions.

By way of comparison, a cotton summer t-shirt often has a protection factor of around UPF 5. This means that 20% of UV rays pass through the fabric, which is a lot for someone who has to stay out of the sun or is exposed to it for long periods of time.

Produit Satisfaisant

Premièrement, la casquette est conforme aux images du site. Elle est légère est confortable. La visière semble un peu fragile mais ne s'est pour autant pas abimé durant mon voyage alors qu'elle se trouvait au fond d'un sac. Pour l'aspect protection solaire, je trouve que le tissu protégeant la nuque est vraiment fin et j'ai du mal à me dire qu'il peut protéger avec une efficacité UPF 50+, mais le soleil n'a malheureusement pas été au rendez-vous ces derniers temps et je n'ai donc pas pu tester son efficacité. A voir cet été mais globalement je recommande l'article.
