This UV-protective headwear scarf for women has been designed to personalise the look of some of our Nuvées UV-protective hats and caps with loops. You can attach this scarf to your hat or cap in a variety of ways, to give your neck extra protection from the sun's rays, for example. Tie it in a pretty bow and you've got a stylish hat that's just right for you.

Made from a silky fabric that's both light and soft to the touch, this UV protection scarf can also be worn alone around the neck for extra sun protection (maximum UPF 50+ certification) and an ultra-feminine look.

What does UPF 50+ mean?

This product is UPF 50+ certified.

UPF stands for Ultraviolet Protection Factor. It is an index measuring the ability of a fabric or material to filter out ultraviolet rays. The UPF 50+ index is the highest UV protection certification, according to European standard EN 13758-1. An UV protective garment with UPF 50+ certification blocks over 98% of UV rays, protecting your skin from possible burns and lesions.

By way of comparison, a cotton summer t-shirt often has a protection factor of around UPF 5. This means that 20% of UV rays pass through the fabric, which is a lot for someone who has to stay out of the sun or is exposed to it for long periods of time.
